Advanced Master in Public Policies and Actions for Sustainable Development

Programme

Total course hours: 615 to 665 (depending on modules chosen)

The programme, worth 78 ECTS, is divided into modules as follows:

The first period of academic courses (23 weeks, 48 ECTS) comprises:

  • a compulsory week of induction (30 hours, no ECTS);
  • a compulsory week focusing on the regionalisation of public policy (30 hours, 2 ECTS);
  • four compulsory topic-based weeks (120 hours, 4 ECTS);
  • courses on the core subjects (220 to 240 hours depending on modules chosen, 22 ECTS), some of which are compulsory (96 hours, 10 ECTS) and others optional;
  • compulsory supervised and moderated group work (65 hours, 6.5 ECTS);
  • two compulsory weeks on “management, human resources and communication” (60 hours, 2 ECTS);
  • optional advanced sectoral or additional modules (90 to 120 hours, 9 ECTS);
  • a language module (30 hours, 2.5 ECTS).

The core subjects are divided into four packages: 3 disciplinary packages (law, economics and finance, sociology and political science) and 1 cross-disciplinary package.

The second period is given over to the assignment and professional dissertation (20 weeks, 30 ECTS).

Each student’s training package is put together with the curriculum team, on the basis of his or her previous experience and professional aspirations. Students sign a contract in the first week of the course, witnessed by a teacher from one of each of the jointly accredited schools.

Students can therefore choose from:

  • firstly, the “core” optional classes in the Law package, Economics and Finance package, the Sociology and Political Science package and the cross-disciplinary package; the core classes attended must add up to a total of 22 ECTS, of which 10 ECTS are compulsory core classes; students then need to choose optional classes for a total of at least 12 ECTS from the four packages and within the remaining hours available; each studen’t weekly timetable will therefore consist of a programme that includes modules from each of the four packages;
  • secondly, the sector-based modules and the additional advanced modules (see below), which must add up to 9 ECTS.

To achieve the required 22 ECTS of core classes, students who are exempted from one or more of the three compulsory core classes must choose others from the core class packages available.

In addition, refresher classes are provided in the first week of induction into the programme.
