Meeting the “Grenelle de l’environnement” targets
This priority plays a highly structural role in that it is a major dimension of the ideas and initiatives that need to be implemented to promote sustainable forms of development in our urban societies, and in particular to meet the targets of the “Grenelle de l’environnement” environmental programme.
Structured around three teams
In order to achieve this central aim, LVMT is structured around three teams:
-
Mobility and metropolisation (leader M.H.Massot): this team analyses the genesis of mobilities from the perspective of the interactions between urban forms and changes in mobility practices. It goes beyond the traditional view of “resultant mobilities” (mobilities produced by urban forms and the location of activities) by adding the more original perspective of “organising mobilities”, and prioritises a socio-economic approach to metropolitan dynamics.
-
Spatial arrangements and mobility policies (leader A.Lhostis): this team explores the interactions between transport networks and territories on the basis of the central question of the connection between spatial scales.
-
Infrastructure economics and supply and demand models (leader F. Leurent): this team pursues research in the field of transport system engineering, exploring the connection between supply and demand. It works both on passenger transport and logistics. It proposes innovative concepts such as the introduction of the notion of comfort in traffic forecasting models (the word “traffic” here being taken in its generic sense to cover all travel activities).
