The first year of the engineering course

From inaugural lectures to work experience placement, from core subjects to scientific placement, the first year at the École des Ponts ParisTech combines the acquisition of solid scientific foundations with exposure to the corporate world.

August to September:the School opens

  • Start of year timetable:Inaugural lectures, presentations, registrations
  • Work experience placement in an operational role

  • This is a work placement in an operational position.The work experience placement marks a break with previous educational experience and focuses on the ultimate purpose:entry into working life.

October to April:classroom learning 

 

In order to ensure that all students have the necessary scientific foundations, the first year is essentially dedicated to core subjects.However, there is a degree of freedom in the choice of a particular course or project, language, sport and work placement.

Scientific placement from April to July

 

The first year ends with a 3-month scientific placement.This is an introduction to research in the scientific field chosen by each student, in a research Establishment in France or abroad.
