École des Ponts ParisTech has double-degree or cooperation agreements with some 20 foreign universities.

Facts

  • 20% of course time is dedicated to languages
  • On average, students spend one year of their degree programmes abroad
  • Speaking other languages and contact with other cultures represent an essential part of each student’s human and personal development.

Preparing students for a multicultural career

Drawing on the extensive potential of our international campus (35% foreign students) and its team of international teaching staff (some twenty nationalities), the Department offers a grounding in languages that prepares students for an international and multicultural career.

  • students are required to choose two compulsory languages, amongst them English and French as a foreign language, Spanish, Italian, German, Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, Russian and Japanese;
  • end of placement reports are presented in the language of the host country or in English, when the placement is outside France.
  • dual accreditation classes (scientific and linguistic);
  • study trips abroad;
  • students working in pairs, teaching each other their native language.There are two formats for this type of independent learning:free pairing (without accreditation) and accredited pairing (in principle in the fourth semester) with a tutor from the Foreign Languages Department.
