Masters in the Mechanics of Soils, Rocks and Structures in their Environment (MSROE)

Competencies and Knowledge

The specific skills targeted by the MSROE Masters programme are modern methods of analysis and modelling in the following fields:

  • site reconnaissance and geological and geotechnical models
  • mechanical and hydraulic behaviour of soils and rocks
  • static modelling of structures (foundations, retaining structures, tunnels and earth structures)
  • environmental geotechnics and natural risks
  • seismic behaviour and soil dynamics

Programme

Academic courses take place on two different sites:

  • On Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, courses are at the Ecole centrale Paris in Châtenay-Malabry.
  • On Wednesdays and Thursdays, courses are at École des Ponts ParisTech in Champs sur Marne.

Completion of the Masters programme requires four criteria to be met:

  • Completion of the four compulsory courses
  • Completion of at least a six optional courses (chosen from the 15 available)
  • Completion of the research initiation project (PIR)
  • Completion of the research internship

The four compulsory courses are:

  • Experimental Methods by Prof Arezou MODARESSI
  • RMCS Rheology and modelling of materials behaviour by Prof Arezou MODARESSI
