École des Ponts ParisTech runs some 15 research Masters programmes in association with other higher education establishments.See the list of Research Masters programmes (M2).
For “École des Ponts PhD students” (listed as PhD students in the School’s graduate directory, these students are registered for a doctoral thesis at Paris-East University at a laboratory supervised by the School), the School recommends that all PhDs should be funded and that a general minimum monthly allocation of slightly over €1620 net of tax should be paid (the equivalent of a supervisor’s post, but with no teaching role).
For the laboratories that fall within the ambit of the PRES (Paris-East University Research and Higher Education Cluster), in 2007 École des Ponts ParisTech transferred its prerogatives relating to the doctoral schools in which it is a stakeholder to the PRES.
These schools are essentially:
the “Sciences, Engineering and Environment” (SIE) School – a multidisciplinary establishment primarily covering physics, mechanics, chemistry, the geosciences, the environmental sciences and life sciences. It encompasses pure and applied, theoretical, numerical and experimental research, with the primary goal of tackling major societal issues such as energy, in particular renewable energy, new materials, innovative structures, questions associated with environmental quality. It is the doctoral school to which the CEREA, LEESU, LHSV and Navier labs are attached.
the “City, Transport, Territories” (VTT) Doctoral School is a significant component of the Paris-East University higher education and research cluster’s “City, Engineering, Environment” hub and draws on this scientific dynamic to offer thesis topics that are both scientifically innovative and closely linked with professional practice. This doctoral School is unusual in its positioning, since it is the only one that explicitly makes the theme of the city, transport and territory its central concern. It is the doctoral school to which the LEESU, LATTS, LVMT and CIRED labs are attached.
the “Mathematics and ICT” (MSTIC) Doctoral School primarily covers two scientific fields: mathematics at its purest (analysis, algebra, geometry…) through to applied mathematics (probability, statistics, scientific calculus…) and ICT (signal and image processing, computer science, automation, diagnostics…) in which there is a significant overlap with the field of mathematics. It is the doctoral school to which the CERMICS and LIGM labs are attached.
the “Organisations, Markets, Institutions” (OMI) Doctoral School covers research themes associated with economics and management, law, political science, sociology and philosophy. It develops synergies between the different topics, with a focus on two areas – market operations and the dynamics of people and organisations. It is the doctoral school to which the LATTS laboratory is attached.
The Paris-Jourdan Economics UMR (mixed research unit): within the framework of the Paris School of Economics, the ETAPE no465 PhD programme at the Panthéon-Sorbonne Economics Doctoral School gives priority to the understanding of economics methods and tools, and from this perspective educates specialists in a wide range of macroeconomic and microeconomic fields.
PhD researchers at the CIRED mixed research unit work within the “Agriculture, Biology, Environment and Health” (ABIES), “Paris-West Economics and Mathematics” and the EHESS (school for advanced social studies)”Social Sciences” Doctoral Schools;
PhD researchers at the LMD mixed research unit work within the “Île-de-France Environmental Sciences” Doctoral Schools and the École polytechnique.
