Socio-economics and modelling of urban public passenger transport systems

In partnership with the Syndicat des Transports d’Ile de France (STIF)

Establishment of the Chair

2010

Chair Holder

Fabien Leurent

Objectives

To develop simulation models and socio-economic assessment methods for the planning of passenger transport in urban areas. The Chair focuses in particular on network simulation and the impact of passenger route choices from available services, and on the modelling of capacity constraints affecting passengers or vehicles.

Themes

The Chair covers two areas of research.

The first relates to the operation of public transport networks, by modelling congestion phenomena and accurately assessing investment projects intended to reduce congestion and improve passenger experience.Innovative models are developed and published in international journals.

The second area relates to the techno-economic design of transport networks for a conurbation, with the aim of finding an optimum structure that takes advantage of the hierarchy of modal techniques, and of integrating interactions between the transport system and real estate distribution.
