Double degree Partnership network
Within the context of globalisation, there is an ever-increasing need for high-level engineers capable of exercising their profession in an international environment. Students can more easily acquire this capability by carrying out a part of their higher education studies abroad.

The double degree programme plays a central role in École des Ponts’s international mobility development. Each partner university recognises and gives credit for all or part of studies done in the other university. Students who successfully complete the double-degree programme and satisfy all requirements set by the home and partner institution are simultaneously awarded their degree in the home university as well as the equivalent degree in the partner institution. They benefit from a bicultural education and receive degrees which are recognised in both countries.

An international student admitted to a double-degree programme in France spends at least two years of study there at the French partner institution. In the École des Ponts curriculum, the last two years of study are equivalent to a Master’s Degree. International students in the double-degree programme complete this two-year Master’s Degree.

As a general rule, international students are admitted from universities where the engineering degree is awarded after five years of study. Depending on the agreement signed with the partner institution abroad, these students finish the last two years at École des Ponts, without returning to their home university. In some cases, however, they return for a maximum of one year after two years spent at École des Ponts. It is not necessary for students in a double-degree programme to prolong their studies more than one year.

École des Ponts has signed 23 double-degree agreements (16 within Europe, 7 with other continents), of which 13 are similar to the 5-year French model, while the others are with Bachelor-Master’s programmes on the Anglo-Saxon model.
